All By Self


All By Self, Oil 6" x 8"
I must admit that this painting looks a lot better in person than the photograph. Oh well ... it is so hot outside and my feet were burning so I was probably a bit rushed to take the picture. I suppose I shouldn't complain as there are many of you out there trying to paint in near sub zero temperatures! The papers say it should cool down by the weekend. Which is a good thing since it was 90 degrees when I got in my car last night ... at 8:30 p.m.!

    Beautiful painting. Nice boat. The marina here in Michigan on Lake Huron where I sail doesn't schedule putting boats in the water until May.

    Another wonderful painting. Your paintings are so fresh and totally look like they were done "en plein air." How do you do that!!! Strange to think of you painting in 90 degree temperatures while I'm freezing in chilly windy Chicago. oh well, that's life for a plein air artist

    It is way too hot right now for April. I really like this one! The boat and reflection really jump off the canvas. Bravo!

    So sorry that the weather is not great in Chicago. I hear the temperature is supposed to drop here tomorrow about 30 degrees ... so our brief "summer" is over!

    Your paint application is so direct and spot on. It appears effortless, which totally is not easy with a knife! Your courage to paint a difficult subject time and again is awesome and inspiring. Hard to believe you didn't start all this until 'mid-40' !

    So feel your pain on the heat! It was 93 or 4 in Austin yesterday and should be the same today. I love the colors here - this one conveys such a feeling of strength and solitude.

    It was 104 yesterday at my house!!

    So WHERE do you take all of these boat photos??? I thought you lived near Pasadena and my vision of Pasadena doesn't include boats...
    I know you LOVE your sailboats, but do you drive to the marina all of the time or what???

    I take tons of them when I can and then keep them in inventory when I am stuck in Pasadena! Especially on really, really hot days!

    Nice work!
    I like the red a lot - it's really pulling my eyes. The reflection is gorgeous too!
    It was really hot - 100 where I live (orange county).

    Somthing about this painting really, really appeals to me. I think it's the abstract quality... I like the looseness, too. And the red and the blue - ah.. I give up. I just like everything about it!
