This painting is beautiful! It is just recently that we sold our beloved "Tila," a 36' Pacific Seacraft. It seems we just didn't have time to sail her like she deserved. Your painting from yesterday reminded me of a Hunter we owned before that. 'Love California, love the boats! I am bestowing upon you the "Passion for Painting" award. ReplyDeleteI like this one! You were right about the previous post. I actually like the brown and bright blue together at the top. But, it's missing something. You were on the right track, and something may still come of that idea.

ReplyDeleteChristine - If you can figure out what is missing from yesterday's post - I would love your advice. I am still struggling. Plus, I didn't even mention that I also cropped the painting so you can't even see the rest of it. Oh well ... maybe something will jump out at me so I can figure out how to fix it! If not, I don't mind putting it in to the "homeless" pile!
ReplyDeleteThe composition and the colors in this work really make this one work so well. You are very talented. You know, before great artist Michelangelo died he went through his artwork piles and burned and destroyed work that we must all specualte did not measure up to his liking. Could you imagine one so great as that thinking that way? Makes me feel better about the 5x7 I tossed in the trash today....
ReplyDeleteGreat composition in this one and you are right about the color combination, it is very eye catching! Maybe the bright colors inspire you WHILE you are putting them on the canvas. Yesterday's wasn't bad, it just didn't have you usual lovely color palette.
ReplyDeleteYes sir!! This one's a beaut! Very cheerful. You mentioned in commenting on yesterday's post that you kinda feel like going back into it. You SHOULD.... This is where we learn the most about our artistic process. I have just begun to face this reality. After a year of feeling as though I was doing one failed painting after another - I kinda have to believe that the universe is telling me to identify and address the issue before I'll be 'allowed' to turn the corner. It's a struggle because I SO want each painting to be good AND done - alla prima. What the heck...if you have a couple of seconds to dip your knife into the paint you have set for tomorrow's painting - go for it! Let's see what happens!

ReplyDeleteThis painting is fabulous. The boldness and saturation of color in the reflections along with the use of knife give it an almost abstract appearance. Very Nice.
Brighter colors rule!
