Yesterday I was supposed to attend the Women Painter's West luncheon for new members. I was thrilled to have been selected as a new member and I was also looking forward to meeting Marian Fortunati, a wonderful artist I have come to know through my blog.
But on the way to the luncheon my car was totaled by an unlicensed driver who somehow managed to slam in to me on the Ventura freeway. I was fortunate, no injuries, but my car didn't make it out so well. And I should mention that after getting my car towed and renting a car, I did manage to make it to the last 30 minutes of the lunch! It was great to meet Marian!
Then four hours later I was on my way to a black tie event and I tripped and ended up breaking my toe. I still made it to the event but could not even walk by the end of the evening.
My husband says I am an "accident waiting to happen" and that I should stay home and just paint. Maybe he is right!
Oh. My. Goodness. I am so sorry for you, but am relieved to hear that you made it through! Wow. If we could only know when a day is going to turn out like this...we could stay home.
ReplyDeleteYou're very brave, though, and you must be so proud of yourself for going forward.
Now you've used up your quota of bad stuff for a very long while!
Beautiful painting!
WOW What a day! Sorry you had such a day yesterday! This is a crazy world!
ReplyDeleteOh, Leslie, I'm sorry for those accidents!
ReplyDeleteI hope you're all right by now. These things happen, but tomorrow will be different...
Best regards,
Carolina
OMG!!
ReplyDeleteYou're KIDDING!! Leslie that is awful...
On a selfish note, I was so glad to see you and finally meet you that I was glad that you had come on to the luncheon -- despite your disastrous trip getting there.
But oweeeee... That toe will keep you off your feet for a while... But I'll bet it doesn't keep you from doing much more than most mortals can fit in to their days.
Feel better, Leslie!!
OMG! you are lucky to be alive! So glad that you're okay (or as well as could be after all that mess! whew!). Happy painting & hope all's well really soon! Cheers, Roxanne
ReplyDeleteLove the painting and laughed through the post (sorry, but it's the way you tell it Leslie). By the way 'totaled' is a new word for me.
ReplyDeleteOMG, Leslie! So sorry to hear. Thank God you weren't hurt in the car wreck. Hope your toe mends quickly. Good grief, what a day.
ReplyDeleteLucky to meet Marian, though! xoL
I like the way you paint those boats !
ReplyDeleteIf you could upload the photo as " large" I think it would be better for us to view clearly .
Thanks .
June
Hope you're ok Leslie - what an awful thing to happen, both times! But lucky you to meet Marian - she sound like an amazing lady from her blog.
ReplyDeleteAs an aside, I think I agree with anonymous - it would be nice to see your incredible paintings in a slightly bigger format.
wow, what a day. I think your husband is right and we probably should all just stay home, smell the roses, and paint paint paint. Glad to see your spirits are still flying high. Hope your injuries heal quickly.
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE LOVe this painting. I feel like I know this day. When looking at this painting it puts me right on the docks.
Wow, Leslie, I'm so sorry to hear all that. Life can be so strange sometimes. You have an amazingly good attitude! Take care. . . love the painting today!
ReplyDeleteThat truly is a day worth forgetting! So glad it was only the car!! (and toe!)
ReplyDeleteI think you did well getting through the day alive and so happy you lived to keep painting.
ReplyDeleteElevate that foot and take a couple of aspirin.
Oh goodness! I am so sorry for your horrible day! Glad you are okay though and hopefully on the mend for the toe. Keep your feet up to help relieve the pain!

Sorry to read of you REALLY bad day...back to painting for you!
ReplyDeleteOh my god, you poor thing!!! That was a day not at all worth getting out of bed for.
ReplyDeleteLovely painting Leslie. So sorry you had such a day. Hope your toe is better. I would agree with your husband to just stay home and paint. You do that very well.
ReplyDeleteOMG Leslie! As a person who tends to 'collect' events, good and bad, like your day I can totally relate. :) Maybe the Universe was trying to tell you "Stay home..." (kidding). But I am so glad it was #1 just your car that got wrecked, and #2 your toe, not your ankle or knee, that got broken... Heal fast, and go beyond this day...
