A Day Worth Forgetting

Birthday Boat #27
Sold.
Yesterday I was supposed to attend the Women Painter's West luncheon for new members. I was thrilled to have been selected as a new member and I was also looking forward to meeting Marian Fortunati, a wonderful artist I have come to know through my blog.
But on the way to the luncheon my car was totaled by an unlicensed driver who somehow managed to slam in to me on the Ventura freeway. I was fortunate, no injuries, but my car didn't make it out so well. And I should mention that after getting my car towed and renting a car, I did manage to make it to the last 30 minutes of the lunch! It was great to meet Marian!
Then four hours later I was on my way to a black tie event and I tripped and ended up breaking my toe. I still made it to the event but could not even walk by the end of the evening.
My husband says I am an "accident waiting to happen" and that I should stay home and just paint. Maybe he is right!

  1. Oh. My. Goodness. I am so sorry for you, but am relieved to hear that you made it through! Wow. If we could only know when a day is going to turn out like this...we could stay home.

You're very brave, though, and you must be so proud of yourself for going forward.

Now you've used up your quota of bad stuff for a very long while!

    Beautiful painting!

  4. OMG!!

You're KIDDING!! Leslie that is awful...
On a selfish note, I was so glad to see you and finally meet you that I was glad that you had come on to the luncheon -- despite your disastrous trip getting there.

But oweeeee... That toe will keep you off your feet for a while... But I'll bet it doesn't keep you from doing much more than most mortals can fit in to their days.

    Feel better, Leslie!!

  6. Love the painting and laughed through the post (sorry, but it's the way you tell it Leslie). By the way 'totaled' is a new word for me.

If you could upload the photo as " large" I think it would be better for us to view clearly .

    Thanks .

  9. Hope you're ok Leslie - what an awful thing to happen, both times! But lucky you to meet Marian - she sound like an amazing lady from her blog.

As an aside, I think I agree with anonymous - it would be nice to see your incredible paintings in a slightly bigger format.

  13. I think you did well getting through the day alive and so happy you lived to keep painting.

Elevate that foot and take a couple of aspirin.

  21. OMG Leslie! As a person who tends to 'collect' events, good and bad, like your day I can totally relate. :) Maybe the Universe was trying to tell you "Stay home..." (kidding). But I am so glad it was #1 just your car that got wrecked, and #2 your toe, not your ankle or knee, that got broken... Heal fast, and go beyond this day...
