Waiting to Sail, Oil 8" x 6"
This painting was actually started a really long time ago. All I had done previously was some minor blocking. When today's painting today was scraped for the "second time" I started to panic and thought well ... at least this one was "kind of" already started ...
So I went at it with my palette knife and had some fun in the process.

I love this painting. To me, cool darker blues and greens are hard to incorporate, but you do it so well! You must have lots of deep blue sky there. I'm curious what surface you're using. I use Raymar cotton (think it's smooth, might be textured..). I'm finding that the regular pattern of the canvas texture bothers me a bit. The linen is so much more expensive, but I think it might be better for thinner areas of palette knife strokes. Thoughts on that?

ReplyDeleteI love bright colors and spontaneous look of the painting. As I zoom in, I see amazing texture and pure abstract forms start emerge. Great work!

ReplyDeleteIsn't that the way it goes? After all the pressure of the scrapers, you can finally just let it flow. It's a mystery. And fun is good! :)
