Hawaiian Afternoon

"Hawaiian Afternoon"
Oil, 11" x 14" on canvas panel.
$550.00 with display easel.

There's something about Hawaii and palm trees that cause me to take a deep breath and sigh ... it's time to put away the day's worries and put your feet up and relax. Ahhhh ... I love the beach. And the nice warm breeze. And the quiet sound of the wind rustling through the palm branches.

Sweaty Palms

Palette Knife Painting by Leslie Saeta

"Sweaty Palms"

Oil, 6" x 6" on canvas panel.
$200.00 with display easel.

I have spent the last three days doing what I love most and enjoy the best ... watching my kids play sports! This time I have been at a volleyball tournament watching my youngest son compete as well as watching my husband's team play. It's been a blast. And we are heading out today for the last day ...
This little painting was fun to paint. I enjoyed mixing the blues and greens for the water. It worked well to create some depth. You can really see the edges created with the palette knife in this photo.
We have been in Balboa all weekend for the tournament and we took a long boat ride with some friends on a glorious Saturday afternoon. I took 480 photos which were mostly boats. So I am set for paintings ... for a long while!

Overlooking Stanford

"Overlooking Stanford"

Oil, 6" x 6" on canvas panel.
Sold.

We have been spending every other weekend up at Stanford watching my son swim. Although the weather has been "rainy and freezing" (which is a huge drag when you bike to morning practice in the dark), the campus has never looked more beautiful. I am so jealous ... what an incredible place to spend four great years. I painted this one in honor of all of my Stanford buddies!

The Pool at the Grand Wailea

"The Pool at the Grand Wailea"
6" x 6" on canvas panel.
Sold

Maui is great. The weather is beautiful and I found about one hundred things to paint on my power walk this morning. Things are busy so all work and no play but that is ok. I love my client! Only one wish for today ... go Dodgers!

Heading to the Beach

"Heading to the Beach"
Oil, 8" x 6" on canvas panel.
$200.00 unframed.

I need to finish five Hawaii paintings by mid October and this is only the first. I love the colors, although it doesn't look like my photo came out that well. It looks much better in person! Maybe I will try to take another one.
I was lucky enough to be awarded the Kreativ Blogger award by Bobbi Heath. I am really touched that she passed on this award! You can find her blog here.

So ... this award requires me to tell you seven fun things about myself so here I go ...
1. I am crazy when it comes to multi-tasking. My latest trick? I listen to books on tape while I oil paint.
2. I am 5'11" tall (so that is at least 1/2 the reason why my boys are so tall ...).
3. I have four brothers and sisters.
4. I painted my first oil painting in 2005.
5. I have been in two emergency landings (both on American Airlines).
6. I love sports. My favorite tv channel is ESPN and I love Sportscenter. But my favorite tv show is and will always be ... Project Runway. Yes ... in my next life I will be a fashion designer ...
7. I truly believe I was put on this earth to be a mom. It is by far the best job in the world.

Into the Sunset

In To the Sunset, Oil, 10" x 8"
This painting is for sale.
I painted this painting this past weekend when it was pouring outside. Seemed to be the right scene to paint as I imagined I was on a beach somewhere ... instead trapped inside on a crummy Southern California day!
The sun did come out on Sunday as I went to the Artist's Reception at Whites Gallery in Montrose. There were tons of people in attendance and the art was really great. I met some very nice fellow artists and I look forward to getting to know them well. Since I am so new to this it is great to have so many wonderful resources. I was really impressed with White's and their permanent collection. If you are looking for art, I highly suggest you head up there.

Hope in South Pasadena

Hope Street Oil, 6" x 8"
This painting is for sale.
I just finished these two paintings. Both of these paintings are South Pasadena locations and I need to thank Laurie Allee and http://southpasadena.blogspot.com/ for the wonderful photos which served as the inspiration for these paintings. Laurie hosts this wonderful blog and posts a new South Pasadena photo every night. She was very gracious to agree to let me use her photos for my paintings!
