Thirty Things You Don't Know About Me

#30 - I have been to Hawaii over 70 times.

It's true. I have lost count but I know I have been there at least 70 times. I spent over thirty years working in marketing and corporate event planning. Fortunately many of my clients opted to host their incentive trips in Hawaii. In fact, my favorite client is hosting their event in Hawaii this week. And I leave tomorrow!

Now ... about the 30 in 30 Challenge. There were many times this month when I thought this day would never come. And now it's here and I am sad. I am going to miss the pressure of finishing my painting every day. OK, so maybe I will miss the pressure just a little ... or not at all ...

I have thought long and hard about what was my favorite part of this month's challenge. Aside from painting every day, it has to be the great emails I received from all of you! So many of you had breakthroughs and incredible traffic to your blogs. Many of you had tons of sales. And for some of you there were struggles. Regardless, we all learned a lot.

Technically the challenge is over for now. But we all know, of course it's really just the beginning.

This is the time for all of us to build upon what we have accomplished this month. Whether you painted five or thirty paintings, it doesn't matter. We have all learned something from painting more often, from blogging everyday and sharing our art on Facebook. The results have snowballed and have been amazing. Many of you told me that you have already blogged more times this month than the entire  year. Most of you have found a way to leave "the stuff" behind so when you enter your studio it's all about painting. A lot of you are painting faster and having little trouble finding inspiration to paint. It's been a great 30 days and I thank you all for joining and inspiring me to paint every day this month.

Tomorrow we will head back in to our studios and paint some more. We will continue to push ourselves out of our comfort zones and take some risks. We don't need to feel rushed and we don't need to ignore our families anymore (haha). Just paint what you want, but take a little more time to build on the momentum you have created these past few weeks.

I promise we will do another 30 in 30 Challenge in 2015. In the meantime I will be busy painting and teaching and enjoying the beach house (I have a workshop there in November!)

Tomorrow I will post a collage of all of my 30 paintings. I will also post instructions as to how you can create one too. You can post your collage on my blog on October 1st. So be sure to check back tomorrow.

#29 - I love to cook. In fact a few years ago, I wrote a cookbook!

Many of you know how much I love to cook. Actually I like to entertain more than I like to cook. There is a difference.
A few years ago I decided to put together a cookbook of my favorite recipes which include some wonderful family recipes. I hope to one day offer the cookbook available for sale. But I haven't found the time to get that organized yet!
Tomorrow is the last day of the challenge ... I truly cannot believe it.

My 2015 workshop schedule is here! I am coming to Cape Cod, Atlanta and Richmond in 2015! Plus you can paint and stay with me in Ventura, CA at the beach house.

Thirty Things You Don't Know About Me

#28 - This Starbucks cup to most people signifies the holidays are coming. To me it means I have to start cooking for our Christmas party.

Almost thirty years ago my husband Dave and I had our first Christmas party. We invited our friends (about 30 or so) and I cooked all of the food. Twenty-eight years later we are still having the party and I am still cooking the food. The only problem is we now invite 250 of our closest friends.

So when you see this holiday cup at Starbucks you should probably start your  shopping. Just remember I will be in the kitchen cooking!

Tomorrow I am releasing my 2015 workshop schedule. I am coming to Cape Cod, Atlanta and Richmond in 2015! Plus you can paint and stay with me in Ventura, CA at the beach house! Click here for more information!

Thirty Things You Don't Know About Me

#27 - I am not a landscape painter.

I know, you must think I am crazy. But to be perfectly honest, I would much rather paint "things" ... boats, umbrellas, silver spoons, flowers, mason jars, buoys and a diet coke can! I enjoy painting "things" much more than landscapes. Besides, there are a million really good landscape artists in the world.

Occasionally I find a landscape scene that I can't resist to paint. I found this cypress tree on a morning walk on the beach in Ventura. I saw the tip of the tree from the beach and headed inward. It's beautiful and located about fifty feet from the shoreline. I love it!

In a few days I am releasing my 2015 workshop schedule. I am coming to Cape Cod, Atlanta and Richmond in 2015. Plus you can paint and stay with me in Ventura, CA at the beach house! Click here for more information!
