The 12 Days of Christmas - Day 3

I really enjoyed all of your "studio tips". There were over 100 posted on my blog and disqus! I have even added a few of the cool ideas to my Christmas list!

The winner of the Day 2 Giveaway panel holder is Susan Johnson. Congrats! Be sure to email me with your mailing address.

Today I am pleased to announce that the free giveaway is a one month long webinARTs course. The winner gets to take the all new WebinARTs 2014 Marketing course. So many things have changed since I launched the first class that I have redone the entire class! All of the videos are new and I am so excited. The class will be launched on April 1, 2014.

This giveaway is valued at $179.00. If you don't know about the course, it's an on-line 20-day course that shows artists exactly how to build a better website, blog, newsletter and sell art on Facebook.

To be eligible for the Day Three Giveaway all you need to do is leave a comment here (or on my Facebook pages) telling us about an artist that you admire. Perhaps you love an artist's art, teaching style or daily blog posts. Just let us know. And be sure to include a link to their website so we can learn more.

Check out my new remodel blog for our new beach house in Ventura, Ca. I am now teaching workshops at the beach. Come stay and paint with me! I have workshops scheduled in the next twelve months in South Pasadena, Ventura Beach, Newport Beach, Charlotte, NC, and Atlanta, Ga. Click here for more information!

There are so many artists that I admire...many on here and many who are no longer with us but I would have to say Naomi Brotherton. I met her at her workshop in 2000 and we just clicked and stayed in touch. She is now 93, and she teaches every week. She has macular degeneration and is nearly
blind but she keeps painting and entering the SWS and western fed shows. Not only is she a great artist
She is a wonderful mentor and encourager. She is also a wonderful Christian. If you want someone to pray she's the one to call. I am honored to know her and be her friend. She lives in Carrollton, Texas and has a studio in Farmers Branch. Her website is www.artisansstudio.com.

Hands down...Susan Abbott. For her watercolors, oils and her generous spirit and ability to teach the "unteachable".

I admire daily painter Debbie Taylor. We started painting daily together in 2011 and she has rarely missed a day. She also has a day job, family and is the best plein air buddy around. http://www.dtaylorstudio.com/

I love Kathleen Dunphy's art work, especially her work from Acadia National Park and theCalifornian coastline. As Navy Spouse myself, I appreciate her story, that she was an Aif Force Spouse constantly moving, successfully reinventing herself at different duty stations and ultimately pursuing her dreams of becoming a visual artist.

This year I've discovered so many new artists on Pinterest it's hard to pick just one. But artist that really caught my eye was CA artist Eric Merrell--His desert painting workshops look amazing http://www.ericmerrell.com/index.html

Roos Shurring has me in awe. She is an amazingly prolific plein air artist who is also adept at online marketing and sales. She is very generous with sharing how she increased her online presence and sales. Her paintings are fresh and loose interpretations of her local countryside. Www.rosepleinair.com

I like who I am studying at the moment and right now it's small paintings in oil and watercolor. Joyce Washor has a book, DVD's and ebooks and I don't want to paint as small as she does but I do want to study her palette choices. I haven't put brush to paint yet but I'm gathering resources and getting ready. http://joycewashorsaltzman.wordpress.com/

My favorite teacher is Barbara Medford. I have been taking classes with her for almost 3 years at the Pasadena Senior Center. She is a very dedicated teacher and always keeps the 2 hours fun and interesting. The class is watercolors, but I paint mostly in Acrylics, so it has been a challenge to loosen up and let the paint flow! Now I love this new medium. Her website is http://www.barbaramedford.com/

I love the work of Jeanette Jobson. I love the softness in her work and the compositions. The water people series that she painted this year is a huge favorite! her blog posts are very informative and make for great reading too.

So many, but I am going to pick Robert Genn because of his generous encouragement via his twice-weekly letters and the fact that he is a fellow Canadian and from B.C. like myself (although I am now East of there).

I really admire Dreama Tolle Perry for inspiring so many people to paint. I found you through her talking about the AHA show during one of her workshops. my work is totally different because of what I learned from her.

Alvin Richard is the artist that immediately sprung to mind. His work is mind-blowing and makes me strive to be a better artist every time I see it:)

I too have many artist friends and artists whose work I love, but I met an artist friend indirectly through Dreama Tolle Perry and we have become great friends and she is one of the most supportive people I know. She is an excellent artist herself, but also leads a small artist group and make every attempt to support each of us,comment on our blogs and share the love. I give you Meredith Adler at http://www.meredithadler.com/
