The Race, Oil 10" x 8"Fridays have a way of sneaking up on me. It is so wonderful to finish up a week and think about a relaxing for a few days. But now that I have a BLOG, all I can think about is "how many paintings can I finish this weekend so I can get ahead?". I don't know how many artists have Type A personalities, but I am guilty as charged. The fact that I will paint until midnight, just so I can have a painting to post that day, clearly explains it ...
I also forgot to mention that I am in charge of a HUGE fundraiser for the school next weekend and there is still a lot to do ... big silent auction ... and lots of coordination left. I have begged everyone for donations and I think it is going to be a wonderful event so I am excited ... but exhausted just thinking about it. I also need to find (or create) two paintings to donate. So ... keep your fingers crossed that I can paint a ton and get a jump on the upcoming week!

This is wonderful. You have really captured the poise of that boat under sail. I can feel her gently rolling over those small swells. It brings back a lot of memories!

I can totally relate to the chaos--the school auction is an enormous undertaking. Good luck with it. Love the sailboat. The composition is lovely.
Liz and Julie - Glad you like the sailboat. The paint is a bit thick but it was a fun undertaking. Not as much fun as the fundraiser though! Then again ...

I love "The Race" - it's more dynamic and even bolder than other works that I have seen so far.
Great touch! No wonder you have fans lined up to say something everyday. Do you show your paintings at any galleries around here? I live in Orange County and love to check it out if you do.

Thank you for so many kind comments! I just started my blog in January so I know how nice it is to receive comments. They make my day too.
I am not in any galleries yet, other than juried competitions. In fact, that will be the subject of one of my next posts - how do I go about approaching galleries? I guess that is the next big step!

Liz and Cathyann - All of my paintings are done with a palette knife. The only time I use a brush is when it comes times to sign the canvas. I turn over the brush and "scratch in" my signature! Thanks for your comments.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Your paintings are wonderful! I struggle with boats. Yours are wonderful. I too love the freedom of painting with a palette knife. LAtely I have been trying to do more painting with a brush. It's a whole new adventure for me- using a brush. But cleaning them is certainly not fun!

Leslie, your paintings are so vibrant and colorful, even though you use a limited palette. You can just feel the energy that went into each painting. I think you have achieved your goal of capturing the light. Each of your paintings is proof of that.
