Being Happy - SOLD

"Whistler II"
Oil, 6" x 8"
$350.00 framed.
OK ... confession time. These past two days I have basically hung around the house with my boys in my sweats for pretty much the entire weekend. I am in heaven. When my three sons are back home together ... just hanging out ... I feel complete. And I am reminded why I am here on this planet ... to be a good mother. It's pretty simple.
So my role this weekend was to cook good food (or take my boys out for good food as was the case last night), and just sit around and love every minute watching my three boys interact. Today we spent hours as they tried to "modernize" my itunes music collection. I do have 23 new downloads that will definitely bring my "workout playlist" into the 21st century. Unfortunately my oldest refused to go through the play list of songs from Glee, so that task ended sooner than I had hoped. We have also watched a lot of basketball ... and for those of you that don't know ... I love sports ... hah!
Finally, our golden retreiver Speffy is actually showing a little bit of improvement. I think the pain pills are helping as occasionally she will actually stand up and limp around a bit. The boys claim she is "higher than a kite" but we're happy if she's happy. I mean really ... isn't that what life is about?

Olympic Dreams

"Whistler II"
Oil on canvas panel.
$350.00 framed

I painted this painting a while ago and it seemed like a good one to post after watching the Opening Ceremonies last night. I am a HUGE fan of the Olympics and as a kid I always dreamed of swimming in the Olympics. Of course I had absolutely no chance of fulfilling that dream but thirty years later I came close when we were able to watch my son compete at the Olympic Trials (in swimming). The Olympic Trials were the single best sporting event I have attended in my lifetime.
Although yesterday's Opening Ceremonies were clouded with tragedy, just watching the hopeful expressions of the athletes and knowing what they had to accomplish to get there was amazing. Many years of determination, hard work and dedication all come down to what happens in the next two weeks. There is one thing about the Winter Games that I don't like ... too many of the events can result in defeat with a mere fall ... skiing, figure skating, speed skating, snowboarding, ski jumping, etc. In one second, with a mere slip in concentration, the most talented athlete can be out of the Olympics.
Whereas in the Summer Games it is highly unlikely that the fastest swimmer or runner is going to fall (or dive in the water and hit their head on the bottom of the pool!). Usually the most talented athlete finishes on the podium. But with the Winter Games, it's different ... there are too many chances for the great ones to falter. Perhaps that is what makes the Winter Olympics so wonderful. You never know what might happen ...

Whistler II

"Whistler II"
Oil, 8" x 6" on canvas panel.
$350 framed.

I heard earlier today that Whistler already has 100 inches of snow this year ... and they are expecting 100 more inches later this week. I think this is a good sign for the Winter Olympics which start in February 2010. All of the skiing events will be held in Whistler.
I have visited this charming town about ten times, but have only been there in the "cold" wintertime. It is one of my favorite cities! Enjoy!

More Winter Wonderland

Whistler II Oil, 6" x 8"
This painting is for sale.

My business travels have taken me to a very warm climate for a few days so I though I would post my second Whistler painting in honor of colder climates! I think I like the previous painting better but I seem to be in the minority. Your thoughts?

We spent the latter part of the holidays in Lake Arrowhead and it was beautiful! Beautiful sunny skies, cold temperatures and snow just about everywhere! I did this small painting of Whistler ... another one of my favorite winter wonderlands. This painting makes me want to go back to the snow!
