Nightime Reflections on the Pavillion

"Nightime Reflections on the Pavilion"
Oil, 8" x 8"
$450.00 framed.
Available at Gale's Restaurant.

I have a last minute opportunity to show some of my paintings at Gale's Restaurant so I have been living in my studio finishing up some new paintings. This is one of the three new paintings just completed and I love it. There's something about the colors that I really love.
I am also excited because as of tomorrow I will have a summer intern helping me with my art business. She attends the same high school as my boys and I am thrilled she will be helping me out three days a week. I have an exhaustive list of what I hope she can accomplish. The good news is we will be documenting her role as Dreama and I hope to discuss how to use interns or "virtual assistants" in your art business on one of our "Artists Helping Artists" radio shows.

Reflections on the Pavilion - SOLD

"Reflections on the Pavilion"
11" x 14"on museum quality canvas panel.
Sold.

After painting like a maniac for the past few months, the next two days will be spent framing, labeling and cataloging all of my paintings. I will deliver 46 paintings in the next few days to Randy Higbee Gallery, Debra Huse Gallery and Gale's Restaurant. Yesterday I dropped off two at Segil Fine Art Gallery. Needless to say, there will be no paintings left to decorate the walls of my house. So on Wednesday I will be back in my studio to continue painting to fill up the empty walls in time for Christmas! Yikes!

A Day in Balboa

"A Day In Balboa"
Oil, 6" x 6" on canvas.
Sold.

Now that I am back in town I am deeply committed to finishing the paintings for my "Headlines" show. I have all of the headlines selected (from the South Pasadena Review newspaper in the 1920's, 30's and 40's) and the inspiration photos taken so all I am doing now is painting! I will not post any of the finished paintings until the show opens ... so it will be another month before they are posted here.
I am trying to also complete a daily painting. I am doing a show in Balboa on May 16th so I am trying to complete some small pieces for that show. Be prepared to see lots of boats and coastal scenes this month. It might be a while before you see flowers again!

Christmas in Newport

"Christmas in Newport"
Oil, 6" x 6" on canvas panel.
$200 unframed.

I thought it might make sense to try a boat painting with some lights ... for those of you that haven't seen the Newport Beach Christmas boat parade ... it is really fun and quite festive! So, even though this boat probably does not have enough lights to compete with the other decorated boats in the parade ... you can get the idea here.
And oh yeah ... Happy almost Halloween!

Newport, RI

"Newport, RI"
Oil, 6" x 6" on canvas panel.
Sold.

I thought it would be fun to try to paint some East Coast destinations this week. And I like the way the colors came out in this one.

Done For the Day

"Done For the Day"
Oil, 6" x 6" on canvas panel.
This painting is sold.
I have been really busy finishing paintings for my upcoming show at Gale's Restaurant. I can't wait to share all of my new paintings. I will post them after the show opens on July 11th! This little painting was done this afternoon. I finished it after I completed a lovely painting of the Balboa Pavilion (in Newport Beach) that I am really happy with. Although it is much larger ... and for the show.

Balboa Island

Balboa Island, Oil 14" x 11"
My paintings seem to be coming off the easel a lot "brighter" these days. This one is not quite yet done but close ... I wanted to paint something bright and fun. We went to the Laker playoff game last night and it was so painful to watch my team play so poorly. This will hopefully cheer me up! And go Lakers!

Balboa Market

Balboa Market, Oil, 8" x 10"
This painting is
for sale.
We spend a week every summer in Newport Beach and we love to wander down to Balboa. I adore this little market and thought I might try to paint it. We have dear friends who have the most adorable home on Balboa island. They call it the "barn" and I would love to paint it (so send me some pictures, ok?). I am actually thrilled with the way this painting came out and with the weather we are having ... I wish we were at the beach. I love Southern California!

Everyone Else's Favorite Painting

Balbo Ferris Wheel, Oil 12" x 16" Sold
Of all the paintings I did last year, I think this was everyone's favorite. I painted it while we were in Balboa and I think the colors make it a nice painting! It was juried into two shows and sold on New Year's Eve to my favorite collector!
I just spent 30 hours over the past three days at a swim meet with my son so I am exhausted and WAY behind in my painting schedule! This will be a very busy week!
