The Red Boat

The Red Boat, Oil 8" x 10"
I did this painting yesterday and had some fun with it! Hopefully you can see the bright orange color of the underpainting peeking through! Thanks for your tips on photographing artwork. I can't wait to try them tomorrow!

I really like your boat paintings. Nice job with the orange paint showing through.

Love it!! I used to keep my sailboat at a marina south of Annapolis on the Chesapeake. Reminds me of those glorious harbor mornings...
beautiful painting.

Extreme gorgeousness!!!! One of my all-time favorites of yours.

I posted on my knife-abstract process. Thank you for asking about it.

That red boat just draws my eye right in. The red underpainting really helps harmonize the color of the red boat, without those hints of color the red boat would probably stand out too much. Beautiful!

Thanks Karen, David and Edward. I like the colors - I need to paint in these tones more!

Liz - glad I could bring back some memories of your boat. Send me some pictures and I will paint it! Jala - glad you like this one. I think it is the colors that makes it different. Kim - I wish I had intentionally planned for the hints of the undertone to balance out the color of the red boat. It was more by accident, I think!

Rahina - thanks so much. Sometimes it just works when I don't even plan it. Call it beginner's luck!

Jala - I just went to your blog and LOVED your post abut the process of your beautifully large abstract knife paintings. Thank you!

Leslie, Another beautiful painting! I am amazed at how quickly you can paint.

Thanks Karen - these are small ones, usually 8" x 10" so they don't take too long. I can finish one in a day if I can keep the interruptions to a minimum ... but that is tough!
