A Larger Version

Street Scene II, Oil 10" x 8"
I painted a very small version of this scene awhile back and decided it was worthy of a slightly larger one. I brightened up the colors a bit (gee ... shocking I know ...) and I really like the way it turned out. I am hosting Happy Hour in a few hours ... I think today is a good day to start the weekend early ... the Lakers play tonight and it has been a long week ... so time to start the weekend! Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to you... Lovely as always.
I finally got to go by VIVA to see your work. It's terrific seeing it close up and just oogle over those "bladestrokes". I liked them both... boats (no surprises there) and the ballet slippers... surprisingly muted, Leslie. I think I liked the slippers the best but I couldn't tell you why since I DID like them both.
Also saw several other artists' work there that I know... Do you know everyone in the club??

Marian - You are so nice to go by the VIVA exhibit. Thank you! It's funny because I had forgotten that thr two paintings were a bit mellow in their colors ... not my usual, I know. But you may have noticed that the ballet slippers painting is not for sale ... that is because it is my favorite painting! So I am glad you like it too!

Irit - Did you see the game last night? Yeah!!!

Tony - thanks for visiting my blog. You are an amazingly accomplished artist and congrats on all of your rewards! I saw your painting at the CAC exhibition and I am so glad you won an award. I also love your listing of artists on your blog - Ray Turner is a dear friend and we have one of his paintings above our mantle!

Yes! Brighter is good! It has warmth and sun and light. And congrats on your Lakers (I say this begrudgingly from Chicago of course) :)

Karen- I think one of the reasons I have been so exhausted the last feew weeks was from watching all of the Bulls/Celtics games! What an amazing series ... should have been the championship finals if you ask me. And just so you know, the five of us here were all rooting for the Bulls!

I like how it turned out too! I think those colors are festive and vital, something to pump up your spirit whenever you need!

Very appealing use of color. Was this done on the scene?

Very nice!
I love your colors and TEXTURE (of course).
You really captured the atmosphere of Southern California although I don't know the actual location of the buildings.
And thank you so much for your newsletter - it's not just informative but beautifully designed.
And good luck with your show at the VIVA gallery.
You are one of the most hard-working artists that I know of (not just painting but all faucets of art business - networking, marketing, etc. not to mention your volunteering for your kid's school and all other good causes). Keep it up!

Lovely colors, Leslie. I can see why you wanted to do this one larger. I hope you had a good Mother's Day weekend!
