Thank you so much for all of your very inspiring comments about "why you love being an artist". Sometimes we need to stop and think about how lucky we are to be able to create and enjoy the wonderful lifestyle of an artist! I hope this reflection has helped to reinforce why you have chosen this wonderful profession, regardless if you are doing it full or part-time.

Do you set up still life subjects in your studio and have some great suggestions to share? Do you have an inspiration board in your studio? My greatest inspiration is nature, whether it is being out in it or watching programs on PBS channels. I often take photos but only use them as inspiration and rarely look at them once I've set the composition.
I paint abstracts and never really have any idea how the painting I start will finish, so for those I rarely use reference. However, I do love to take walks with my camera and capture little bits of things like rust, algae, moss, wood textures, etc. I don't refer to them when I paint, but they're in my mind somewhere :-). For the 30/30 challenge I am planning to do something a little more literal and will use photos I've taken on travels as inspiration.
I take my own photos and with over 100,000images you would think that that would be enough, but no I have asked other photographers to paint theirs when something really just sings to me.
