I think I might have to continue my "reflections" theme next week since I am having so much fun with it. I have more rain reflection paintings to try ... Also, I have decided in the future I will follow a "theme" each week and I have some ideas - such as favorite restaurants, my favorite cities, etc. If you have any suggestions please let me know! I think a theme keeps me focused and painting more. Sometimes I spend too much time looking for photos and inspiration and I don't get to my easel.I sent out an email to all of my buddies announcing that next week I will post my "50th" blog entry and painting. Most of you have no idea what this represents for me ... in all of 2008 I did not even paint 50 paintings ... so thanks for your encouragement! My goal to paint more and improve my painting skills is working ... well at least the "paint more" goal is working ...

Sonia,
Thanks for visiting my blog ... all the way from Israel! So glad you like them!
Irit,
Thanks for visiting my blog! I love your paintings and appreciate your kind words.
I love all of your reflection paintings so far, but the city hall is my favorite TO DATE... Great series.
Hard to believe you only painted 50 paintings last year.... Do you mean you only POSTED 50 paintings???
Keep 'em coming!!
Love the thick application and the high horizon. This one reminds me of the painting on the home page of Susan Godwin's website, susangodwin.com . She is getting more abstract. I took a palette knife class from her.
Marian,
I have been painting less than three years and never have been able to paint regularly. Too many distractions and responsibilities ... full time job, lots of travel, three kids, husband, etc. So last year I would estimate that I painted in total about 40 paintings. This year I made a promise to myself that I would post five paintings on my blog each week. I am thrilled that I have already surpassed last year's total number of paintings and it is only February!
Leslie, I had to stop by and see what you've been up to. Wow! I love all of these so much! I'd be like a kid in a candy store at your studio.
Leslie, Thanks for the encouraging words you left on my blog. I imagine you've felt the same time crunch with three kids and a husband. Congrats. on already surpassing your painting goal, you should be very proud!
Great idea to have a weekly theme in your paintings. I agree with Marian, I love the reflection series! The composition in this one is strong. I like that you have a color transition in the water in the foreground, it keeps it interesting. When I look up close at how you put in the reflections of the rigging I think you did a great job if keeping them loose.
I'm so glad I stumbled upon your blog because I look forward to seeing more and more of your work!
I just found your blog tonight. Wow! Wonderful reflections series! And congratulations on your productivity. Great idea to give yourself a theme each week.
Hello Leslie
Thank you for visiting my blog. I am pleased we are following has I do like your work.
A clever use of limited palette with such vibrance too.. I like how you compose and position vanishing points. This style is my cup of tea. I would hang your paintings on my wall without hesitation.
Regards
Kind Regards
50 is huge, especially when you put it in the context of not having even painted 50 last year. That is really touching. I can't wait to see 150, 250, 1050!!!
